UK government supporting geothermal plans

Last Thursday the Department for Energy and Climate Change announced the creation of the Deep Geothermal Challenge Fund – meaning that the government has allotted £6 million towards deep geothermal development in the UK.
Last Friday the UK energy’s regulatory body, Ofgem, announced the results of ‘Project Discovery’. The findings won’t make pleasant reading for most people – they predict that by 2020, energy bills in the UK will have grown by 14-25%, and in a worst-case scenario, bills could even swell by 60%.
